Stressful Sunday has ended
Sun 7 Feb 2010, 22:25 0 Comment(s) Email article Report AbuseI wanted to post the pictures of my homebaked Challah made for Friday night and the cheese cake, but my laptop doesn’t seem to be reading the memory stick. Drama, drama drama… nothing goes smoothly for more than an hour in my life. So very strange. Please G-d the drama surrounds inanimate objects in my possession only!
The unveiling was horrible – shitty actually, but such is life. Thanks for all your kind thoughts and wishes. I’m just so relieved it’s over. – I hate getting emotional in company, but managed to get through it all without embarrassing myself too much.
Today is America’s Super Bowl XLIV (44) – what I know about Football is dangerous, but I do know that the New Orleans Saints play against Indianapolis Colts in Florida in a few hours. Even after 10 and 12 years respectively, in the USA, I know that my children still aren’t avid fans. So imagine my surprise when Tania (my middle pip), told me they were scooting out to the supermarket to get nosh (snacks), for the big football game which they’re watching on TV this afternoon. I quipped that I had no idea she’d become an [American] football fan. Tania: “No, we don’t watch it for the football, we watch the adverts!” I have been hysterical with laughter – it’s really the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time. She did get defensive trying to explain what she meant, but I wouldn’t let her… for a while! Whatever her explanation won’t stop me from cracking up.
Eventually, I allowed her the opportunity: The biggest companies produce amazing advertising spots for the annual SuperBowl adbreaks. It’s the ‘platinum’ class of adverts** apparently. Also, the best live bands and/or artists, are brought in to perform in between. (Remember Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson’s exposed boob?) This year ‘The Who’ is performing. (And Tania loves The Who). I have to admit, that even I would watch the football if I could see Pete Townshend and Roger Daltry of The Who! Although, I’m still picturing the scene of my child and her hubby sitting through the football, waiting for the next amazing advert! LOL... Sorry Tan, but this is too good not to share! :)
Some Triva I came across recently:
I'm VERY thankful that Darlingdee and Chommie are safe after their traumatic afternoon today - thank G-d! Much love and keep cool D.
Browniegirl: I am sooo sorry I couldn't help you better with directions. Forgive me my friend? *Hugs*
** Gene Simmons is in the ad for the soft drink Dr Pepper - will be broadcast later today during the televised game - a legendary advertising showcase. (Last year, NBC sold its ad spots for $206-million.)
